Project Cafe Nouveau

I designed the logo and text for a friend's new coffee shop in upstate New York, drawing inspiration from both Art Nouveau and Art Deco. While these two movements are distinct, they share certain similarities that influenced our vision. We aimed for a design that felt clean, distinct, and welcoming.

After experimenting with various typography, we ultimately settled on the top logo as the final choice, with the bottom version as a close runner-up. The decisive factor for the top design was its typography; I dedicated considerable time to refining it, incorporating an Art Nouveau flair while maintaining the clean lines characteristic of Art Deco.

The central graphic features a reimagined fleur-de-lis, paying homage to the owner's French Canadian heritage. You'll also notice the two iterations of the graphic at the bottom, presented in black and sage bisque.
